September 28, 2009

Last week we visited a Recent Convert family named the Whiteheads. Whilst there, their Three Year old son, Tyler, (who is a bit Hyperactive) kept trying to pester us and steal our stuff. We held him off for as long as we could but finally he got it! He took my whole tracking bag! He slung the heavy bag over his shoulder (almost falling down in the process) and looked up at us and said "Let's go play 'missionary'!" So I took my name tag and put it on him and hid behind a door. Then Elder Condie and 'Elder Whitehead' knocked on my door. I opened the door and said "Hello?"Tyler didn't even bother with a door approach and tried to push his way in. Being the stubborn Baptist that I was, I wasn't going to let a Mormon Missionary into my house. So I booted him out, but 'Elder Whitehead' is a persistent missionary and he knocked again. This time he tried a less forcible approach.I asked him what church he was with; He answered "Missionary Church!"Such enthusiasm peaked my interest, as he taught me simply about the 'Book Mormon'. I could not resist and was baptized!I learned a lot about mission work in that little experience. When teaching others you need to apply the right amounts of Enthusiasm and humility. Too much enthusiasm and they will throw you out, yet if we don't have any people won't be interested, which is why we need to humble ourselves and show respect.Love you all and be enthusiastic in your Callings and the lord will bless you.Elder Jose

This last week has been pretty wet. Elder Condie and I have been workin' hard. Although we have been having some success it has been difficult to find people who are willing to progress...It's funny the way the lord works sometimes. I know that he blesses our efforts, and although we may not see the fruits of our labors I know that if we exercise our faith he will bless us in ways that we would not expect. Elder Condie and I are going to continue to work hard and the Lord will guide us and bless our efforts with success. Thank you for all of the prayers you have given on our behalf, Please keep praying. I love you and hope to hear from you soon.Love Elder Jose

Thanks for the E-mails. It is good to know that everyone has been doing well. Grandma Rae, I got your letter. Thanks for keeping me informed. I'm glad you kept my dad from using too much white duct tape. Well, things have been going well here. Elder Condie and I are still working hard and appreciating the tail end of summer in Tennessee. Everything is still green, but the days are getting noticeably shorter (and slightly cooler, which is nice). Right now, our teaching pool is a little low so we are looking hard trying to find people to teach. The members here are really being a huge help, so we should have some more solid investigators soon. Sorry there is not too much to report on, But we will keep working and give you something to read about next week. Luv Y'uns.Elder Jose.

My goodness!!!This Week has been very busy. I feel like I could have biked to Idaho with all the miles I've gone this week, but it was worth because we were able to get some new investigators to church and they really enjoyed it! Elder Condie and I have been working very hard, and enjoying our missions. Yesterday was Labor Day (we are E-mailing today because the library was closed yesterday) so we decided to celebrate by going Bowling and I bowled a 194! Everything has been going very well, Thank you so much for keeping me in your prayers. I love you all so much,Elder Jose
